THE BEST & WORST PERFORMING FUNDS IN 2018

The return of volatility in 2018 following mostly calm conditions dampened returns available to investors as a difficult year culminated in just 11 of the 36 Investment Association sectors achieving gains. As a result, only a small percentage of funds within these sectors posted strong growth returns. For this report, we analysed the performance of more than 3400 unit trust & OEIC funds and identify the 5 best funds with the highest returns in 2018 - And we also feature the 5 funds that have performed the worst.

FUND MANAGER LEAGUE TABLE

For our league table, we carried out an extensive performance analysis of the unit trust & OEIC funds that are managed by 95 Investment management firms. Each fund manager has been ranked based on the percentage of funds they manage that have received a 4 or 5-star Yodelar performance rating. This report highlights a clear lack of consistent top performing investment options for UK Investors, but it also identifies the relatively small proportion of fund managers who have excelled with a selection of their funds consistently outperforming the competition.

COLUMBIA THREADNEEDLE FUND REVIEW

This analysis provides an insight into the performance of 75 funds that are managed by fund management giant Columbia Threadneedle. In this report, you will find the last 1, 3 & 5-year cumulative growth figures for each of their funds up to 1st December 2018. Each fund has been provided with a performance ranking between 1 and 5-stars based on how well their growth figures compared alongside all other competing same sector funds over the periods analysed.
